On the road again! See us this week at the DBIA Expo.

October 17, 2011 by

The busy fall trade show season is upon us. This week, Team Bluebeam is heading down to Orlando, Florida for the 2011 Design-Build Conference & Expo.

If you’re DBIA-bound, too, then check us out in booth 411. Not only can you see Bluebeam PDF Revu 9 live and in action and pick up a trial CD, you’ll also have a chance to chat with two of our technical specialists, James and Stuart. Take advantage of their industry knowledge and love of all things Bluebeam to learn how Revu can help you digitize your workflows, integrate PDF-based processes with ProjectWise or Sharepoint, collaborate more efficiently and go mobile.

Have a safe trip down, and remember to keep on PDFin’!

Cool News Resources for Bluebeam Users

October 14, 2011 by

I’m back from maternity leave (it’s a boy!) and returning to my life of PDFin’. And upon my return I saw that Bluebeam had quite the busy summer – with a VIP rally day event, Vision Award Win and speaking sessions.

One of the coolest things to happen over the past few months, though, is the addition of some new technical documents to help you do more with Bluebeam PDF Revu! Check ‘em out:

Take advantage of these new tools to improve the way you work, and remember to keep on PDFin’!

It’s Steel Day 2011!

September 23, 2011 by

In honor of Steel Day 2011, we wanted to highlight one of our newest cases studies from Rowecord Engineering, a major steel contractor in the UK that provides first-class design, engineering manufacture, treatment and erection services for steel structures.

Prior to finding Bluebeam, Rowecord had been using Adobe Distiller for high-volume PDF creation and Adobe Acrobat for end user PDF editing and markup. However, this solution was proving to be too costly to maintain, so Rowecord’s Project Leader decided to begin the search for a new PDF solution. His main search criteria included a solution that provided end users with easy-to-use PDF annotation and editing tools, the ability to covert high volumes of Windows files to PDF, and affordable pricing. Enter Bluebeam.

Rowecord now uses Bluebeam Q, Bluebeam’s server-based solution, to automatically create a high volume of PDFs from BIM applications, mainly Tekla Structures, and Bluebeam PDF Revu for marking up PDFs electronically with comments, highlights, shapes and symbols.

Bluebeam and McCarthy win Gold!

September 20, 2011 by

Last Wednesday, September 14th, we attended the Constructech Vision Awards with McCarthy Building Companies at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. And, we’re happy to report that we came out winners!

The Constructech Vision Awards ‘honor companies that have realized the advantages of applying innovative technologies to their everyday businesses as well as the technology enablers that have helped them achieve their goal.’ McCarthy and Bluebeam were up for an award in the Builder/GC Commercial +$500 million category. The award entry focused on how project record drawings can be updated, maintained and distributed electronically in PDF in lieu of traditional hand posting methods, which are labor intensive, inefficient and difficult to duplicate. McCarthy used Revu to hyperlink PDF documents for better access to information such as drawing details, specifications and RFIs.  Well, McCarthy’s efforts (and Bluebeam’s technology) paid off, because we tied for Gold – the highest achievable honor!

Here is a quick interview that we recorded after we received the award with McCarthy’s Vice President, Information Technology, and Bluebeam’s Senior Account Manager:

Bluebeam User Places First in OMR SCCA Rally Race

September 13, 2011 by

Last month during the 2011 Tekla User Meeting, Patrick, our Product Manager, met one of our users Doug, a Steel Detailer. Interestingly enough, Doug also happens to be an amateur rally racer. For those of you who don’t know, Bluebeam has been a big supporter of rally racing since the beginning of 2010. In fact, we have our very own Bluebeam Rally Team. Doug knew about our involvement in rally, and asked if we’d like to support him in his next race. Of course, our answer was “YES!”

On Monday, September 5th, Doug got behind the wheel of his 89 BMW 325i (of course outfitted in some cool Bluebeam Rally decals!) for the Ozark Mountain Region Sport Car Club of America (OMR SCCA) Labor Day RallyCross Race. Doug ended up finishing first in his class, and we couldn’t be more excited for him!

Here are some pictures that Doug sent us from his race:

Doug's ride. Lookin' good!

Doug's #1 fan, aside from Bluebeam that is.

Way to go Doug! Check out Doug’s stats here, and remember to keep on PDFin’!
