Bluebeam Rings in 2012 at the Rose Parade

January 5, 2012

The ball has dropped, confetti has landed and 2012 is here! Bluebeam continued our annual tradition of celebrating the New Year together by watching the Rose Parade. Lucky us – our Pasadena, CA headquarters are conveniently located on the parade route, and we have a balcony! Here are some photos of our favorite floats and bands:

The China Airlines float celebrated the beginning of the year of the Dragon (well, almost – Chinese New Year begins later this month.)

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles’ float celebrated its new dinosaur exhibit!

This “If Pigs Could Fly” float reminded me of Angry Birds!

We love the Nordics, so we definitely loved that the Royal Swedish Navy Cadet Band made an appearance in this year’s parade.

Aloha from the City of Downey!

Happy New Year, and remember to keep on PDFin’!

Bluebeam Has a Blast at AU 2011

December 6, 2011

This year’s Autodesk University was held at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.  The feedback from many attendees was that this year’s show was more exciting than ever, and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

Many of our users stopped by to tell us how Bluebeam PDF Revu makes their lives easier, and offered suggestions for future releases. Users-to-be learned more about why Bluebeam PDF Revu stands out among the competition.

With such a diverse group around us, it was a great opportunity to hold a special Faces of Revu photo event on Wednesday night, during AUGI’s annual Beer Bust. All attendees were welcome to take a self-portrait keepsake, while we invited devoted Bluebeam fans to enter the campaign.

Check out these photos from our booth:

We also got to have a little fun in the Creative Studio, making marshmallow guns!

Thank you to everyone who came by. We hope you had as much fun as we did. And remember,  to keep on PDFin’!

Be the Face of Revu

October 24, 2011

Revu users have always been the type to get things done. They use Revu to work smarter, push the limits and set new expectations. And they have a whole lot of fun in the process.

Well, now it’s time to represent. Bluebeam is launching a new campaign, and it’s all about you.

Show the world how Bluebeam PDF Revu helps you rock your job. Join our Faces of Revu: 2012 campaign and you just might be featured in our advertisements. Here’s how:

  • Send us your best shot. Email us a photo of you to use. We want to make sure you look good, so send us a high-resolution jpg or tif that is at least 3000 x 2000 pixels. Your picture should be taken waist up and against a solid background, like these:

  • Let us get to know you. Share your name, age, title, the Revu product you use and your favorite features.
  • Tell us who you really are. Wow us with your unique hobby or fact about you.
  • Leave a number. We’ve got to be able to call you if your entry is chosen for print.

Send your submission to us at facesofrevu@bluebeam.com. We’ll be sharing entries on this special campaign website, and a few lucky submissions will be used in our print and online ads.

Got questions? Let me know. And remember, to keep on PDFin’!

Bluebeam and McCarthy win Gold!

September 20, 2011

Last Wednesday, September 14th, we attended the Constructech Vision Awards with McCarthy Building Companies at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. And, we’re happy to report that we came out winners!

The Constructech Vision Awards ‘honor companies that have realized the advantages of applying innovative technologies to their everyday businesses as well as the technology enablers that have helped them achieve their goal.’ McCarthy and Bluebeam were up for an award in the Builder/GC Commercial +$500 million category. The award entry focused on how project record drawings can be updated, maintained and distributed electronically in PDF in lieu of traditional hand posting methods, which are labor intensive, inefficient and difficult to duplicate. McCarthy used Revu to hyperlink PDF documents for better access to information such as drawing details, specifications and RFIs.  Well, McCarthy’s efforts (and Bluebeam’s technology) paid off, because we tied for Gold – the highest achievable honor!

Bluebeam User Places First in OMR SCCA Rally Race

September 13, 2011

Last month during the 2011 Tekla User Meeting, Patrick, our Product Manager, met one of our users Doug, a Steel Detailer. Interestingly enough, Doug also happens to be an amateur rally racer. For those of you who don’t know, Bluebeam has been a big supporter of rally racing since the beginning of 2010. In fact, we have our very own Bluebeam Rally Team. Doug knew about our involvement in rally, and asked if we’d like to support him in his next race. Of course, our answer was “YES!”

On Monday, September 5th, Doug got behind the wheel of his 89 BMW 325i (of course outfitted in some cool Bluebeam Rally decals!) for the Ozark Mountain Region Sport Car Club of America (OMR SCCA) Labor Day RallyCross Race. Doug ended up finishing first in his class, and we couldn’t be more excited for him!

Here are some pictures that Doug sent us from his race:

Doug's #1 fan, aside from Bluebeam that is.

Way to go Doug! Check out Doug’s stats here, and remember to keep on PDFin’!

Favorite Feature Friday – 3D Viewing

August 12, 2011

It’s Favorite Feature Friday, and today we’re celebrating Bluebeam’s new 3D viewing capabilities included in all editions of Bluebeam PDF Revu 9 – Standard, CAD and eXtreme. Don’t Leah and Helen look great?!

Bluebeam's 3D models.

In Revu, once you open a PDF file with 3D content, a floating toolbar called the 3D Hover Bar will appear in the upper left-hand corner of the workspace. This toolbar lets you customize your interaction with the 3D model.

From the toolbar you can select different viewing modes such as rotate, spin, pan, zoom and camera.  You can also change perspectives, views, lighting, background colors and render modes. Cutting-edge animation features even allow you to cycle through all 3D views contained in a PDF… no glasses required.

Learn more about Revu’s 3D viewing capabilities here, and remember to keep on PDFin’!
