No more teasers, Bluebeam PDF Revu 8 is alive and ready to download!
This new version takes Bluebeam beyond just PDF creation, markup and editing. It’s a complete solution for banishing paper from your workflows. And, with incredible new features that make it super easy to manage files and customize the way you interact with PDFs, Revu 8 is most definitely Bluebeam’s best release ever.
Among my favorite new features are:
- A brilliant File Access tab for managing files without ever having to leave Revu.
- Smooth integration into SharePoint and ProjectWise through a Revu toolbar.
- Flexible custom columns in the Markups List for performing calculations.
- Quick and easy one button PDFs from Revit. Yes!!
Trust me, there’s a whole lot more to Bluebeam PDF Revu 8. You can read about it here or listen to this podcast with lead Bluebeam PDF Revu developers, Ben and Peter:

Congratulations for this new release.
Currently I try the trial and really enjoy using it. You’ve added a lot of very useful features, just as the customization and the file access, but also other things like maximizing workspace by remove the window title or fixing other things.
Well done, it’s a great release! And I will contact the technical support later which should contain a more detailed list of all the things I like and which could be improved
But really, well done.!

Do we now have the ability to show a thumbnail for BlueBeam PDFs in MS Windows? I know that is one of the problems with the current version we have.

Hi Al,
Thanks for the question! With Revu 8, you can get previews of PDFs through our File Access Tab. This tab let’s you search your local and network drives for PDFs and other files from directly within Revu. Just hover over a PDF file name and a preview will display. The File Access Tab also displays a list of Recently viewed PDFs, and let’s you organize and categorize commonly used and viewed PDFs, too. More info is here: http://bluebeam.com/web07/us/products/revu/8.0/access/
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you, Karen. Still, my question remains, PDF icon thumbnails in Windows Explorer will still be just an icon? The ability to preview PDF documents without opening Acrobat or Bluebeam is very much a necessity. Please pass this on to your engineers.
Thanks again!

Hi Al, Sorry – as of now the preview will only be through the integrated explorer in our File Access tab, not through the a regular Windows Explorer.
