We just created seven new Bluebeam PDF Revu Tool Sets: Appliance Symbols, Doors, Home Furniture, Plumbing Fixtures, Landscape Fixtures, Trees and People.

Angus Cockburn had just started using Bluebeam when he was offered a job with a quick deadline. He had three days to measure 10 different flooring coverings for a 4-story, 1,500 room London hospital!
Angus used Bluebeam to make over 600 takeoff annotations on this drawing.
So what did Angus do? He took the job and put Bluebeam’s takeoff tools to the test! You can read all about it here. And remember, to keep on PDF’ing!

Last week Team Bluebeam (aka Sasha and James from Account Services) descended on our nation’s Capitol. They met with Bluebeam users and Sasha even spoke at the AIA DesignDC conference.
Unfortunately, this is yet another cool trip I didn’t get to take. But Sasha and James did share some great photos with me. So it’s almost like I got to go to DC. Almost.

Bluebeam is at it again.
Apparently it’s the summer of cubicle redecoration!
As of last week, my coworker Beth has been part of the Bluebeam family for two years. To celebrate her cubicle was decorated with cotton balls and quilt batting. It makes perfect sense to me. After all, cotton is the appropriate gift for a two year anniversary.

I like the snapshot tool because it’s an easy way to copy and paste from a PDF. Unfortunately, snapshot annotations are limited in that you can’t assign them a fill or line color, style or adjust their opacity. Sometimes, this can make it difficult to see a snapshot on a PDF.
Can you find my snapshot?
Luckily, there’s a very easy workaround to make snapshots stand out.
Now I can see the snapshot.
In the example above, I was able to call attention to the snapshot simply by placing a colored rectangle over it and reducing the rectangle’s opacity. If you don’t want to use a rectangle, you can use any other shape that allows for a fill color (ellipse, polygon or cloud).
I can also use other annotations, like arrows and text, to give further instructions.
An easy-to-see snapshot with additional instructions. I love it!
And that’s it – a very simple workaround that “gives” additional properties to a snapshot. Try this trick out the next time you’re working with the snapshot tool. And remember to keep on PDF’ing!

WebTabs is a nifty feature in Bluebeam.
To open a WebTab, right click in the grey space next to your file tabs.
Since version 6, WebTabs have provided Bluebeam users with a web browser for surfing the Internet from directly within Revu.

WebTabs is a useful feature for a few reasons. First, if you need to refer to a website while reviewing a PDF, you can use Revu’s tabbed navigation to switch back and forth between the PDF and website. You can even split the view to display both the website and PDF side by side. Also, when you click a hyperlink in a PDF, Revu will automatically open that website in a WebTab.
