This new version takes Bluebeam beyond just PDF creation, markup and editing. It’s a complete solution for banishing paper from your workflows. And, with incredible new features that make it super easy to manage files and customize the way you interact with PDFs, Revu 8 is most definitely Bluebeam’s best release ever.
Among my favorite new features are:
A brilliant File Access tab for managing files without ever having to leave Revu.
Flexible custom columns in the Markups List for performing calculations.
Quick and easy one button PDFs from Revit. Yes!!
Trust me, there’s a whole lot more to Bluebeam PDF Revu 8. You can read about it here or listen to this podcast with lead Bluebeam PDF Revu developers, Ben and Peter:

Last Tuesday, we announced that Bluebeam PDF Revu 8 will be available next week. So, in celebration of the upcoming release, I thought I’d give you one final sneak peak at the upcoming version. Take a look at these screenshots of new features. Can you guess what they are?
1 PDF, 2 PDF, Green PDF, Blue PDF…
Customize what, exactly?
This strangely resembles the Conversion Settings menu for Bluebeam’s AutoCAD plugin. What could it be?
It’s quite possibly the coolest thing that Bluebeam has ever done. Well, besides making our awesome PDF editor, Bluebeam PDF Revu, of course.
Last fall we officially launched the Swedish version of Bluebeam PDF Revu, which is exclusively distributed through FutureCAD. During that launch, we discovered that our friends at FutureCAD, Björn Wulff and Christian Gren, are Swedish rally car drivers. The wheels in our heads started turning and we came to, what seems to us – an obvious conclusion. We NEED a Bluebeam rally car.
So ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you, the Bluebeam Rally Team!
How cool is this?!
That’s right, we have not one, but two rally cars. You can follow their progress on www.bluebeamrallly.com and of course, right here on this blog. We’ll be updating a lot of fun content about the racing circuit. You might even see some familiar Bluebeam faces taking the cars for a spin. And remember, to keep on PDFin’ – and rallyin’, too.
The wait is almost over. No, I’m not talking about tonight’s season premiere of LOST, I’m talking about the debut of Bluebeam PDF Revu 8!
Today in our Bluebeam Insider newsletter, we announced that Revu 8, with its mysterious “access” and “customization” features, is hitting the streets next week. I can’t tell you how excited I am for this launch. I know it’s going to make a lot of Bluebeamers happy, and give me plenty to write about right here in this blog.
So stay connected, through this blog, our Twitter feed and our Facebook page to make sure you’re the first to know when Bluebeam PDF Revu 8 goes live. And remember, to keep on PDFin’!
One of the leaks in the “What to Expect in Revu 8” podcast is that Bluebeam PDF Revu 8 will be more customizable than ever before. That’s sure saying a lot, because the fact is, Revu already has a ton of customization options right now. For example, you can configure the interface with a simple Profile change, save special markups in the Tool Chest and create and save PDF templates.
But when it comes to customization, there’s another very cool feature already in Revu, that really doesn’t get the credit it deserves. So today, I’m going to show you just how easy it is to move tabs like the Tool Chest and the Thumbnails tab, from one panel to another.
Let’s move the Thumbnails panel from the left dock, to the bottom dock. You know, the dock next to the Markups list. To do this, select the Thumbnails icon at the top of the Thumbnails tab.
Keep holding down that left mouse button as you drag your mouse from the Thumbnails tab, down to the bottom of the interface. As you do this, you’ll notice that both the bottom and right panels will automatically open.
Once you’re over the bottom panel, this blue and orange Tab Positioning Wheel will display. Hover directly over the wheel to choose whether the tab should be placed to the top, bottom, right or left of the existing tab, in this case the Markups list. In the screenshot above, I moved the Thumbnails tab below the markups list, which is why the down bottom section of this wheel is orange
And now, for the results:
And just like magic, the bottom panel of Revu is displaying both the Markups List and the Thumbnails tab simultaneously. But that’s not all. I can further customize the panel by grabbing the Thumbnails tab icon, and moving it directly next to the Markups List icon so that only one tab is displayed at a time.
How do you think Revu 8 will improve on Bluebeam’s customization options? Well, the good news is that the release is just days away, so you won’t have to keep guessing for long. Check back to this blog for more Revu 8 news, and remember to keep on PDFin’!
Ever since I posted the “What to Expect in Bluebeam PDF Revu 8” podcast earlier this month, I’ve been getting a ton of requests to share more about the upcoming release. I tried to satisfy this hunger for Revu 8 news by directing Bluebeamers to www.station32.com (believe me, there are hints in the Mighty Bluebeam videos). But, that only made Bluebeamers want to know more.
Well, today I’m giving it to you. Here are some never before seen screenshots of the soon to be released Bluebeam PDF Revu 8. Enjoy!
Sorry, I had to gray out the tab!
A closer look at the toolbar of that mysterious new dock tab.
Another new toolbar with file options. Interesting…
Formula? What could this be used for?
That’s it for now, folks. Stay tuned and you just might see some more Revu 8 hints. Until then, keep on PDFin’!
I love hearing positive feedback from customers, especially stories like this:
“Bluebeam saved the day for me when I had 1600 pages to Bates-stamp and have sent out THAT DAY. That project would have taken me at LEAST two or three days to do without it.”
- Debra
Bates-stamping or Bates-numbering, for those who don’t know, is a type of numbering system that places unique identifiers on the top of documents, and it’s very common in the legal and medical fields. Bluebeam’s implementation of Bates Stamping is pretty simple, so it’s no wonder that Debra was able to Bates-stamp her 1600 page PDF so quickly.
1) Go to Documents/Headers and Footers:
2) Click on the Bates Stamping button, enter in desired number of digits, start number and prefix or suffix.
3) Click OK and you’re good to go!

A few weeks ago we unveiled www.station32.com, giving you a special glimpse inside the life of our paper-fighting super hero, the Mighty Bluebeam. Now, an intriguing new Motion Comic video (highlighted below in green) has appeared on the screens of Station 32, giving you a glimpse into the problem the upcoming Bluebeam PDF Revu 8 will solve. Don’t wait – watch it now!
What secrets are revealed in the new Mighty Bluebeam motion comic?

This past weekend I caught the tail-end of a special History Channel show, Jobsite: Concrete Countdown. This one hour episode details a construction crew pouring the top floor of a Manhattan skyscraper. The catch? They only have 90 minutes to get the concrete from the ground, up 700 feet to the 60th floor and poured before it dries up.
I know a lot of you deal with high-pressure jobsite situations like this one all the time. But let me tell you, I was definitely on the edge of my seat! And it put into perspective the importance of clearly and accurately documenting project information with solutions like Bluebeam.
If you’re interested in watching the episode yourself, it’s airing again on Saturday, January 23rd at 6pm. And remember, to keep on PDFin’!
Last week, we unveiled an itty bitty sneak peak of our upcoming release, Bluebeam PDF Revu 8. Well, ever since then, Bluebeam has been on the minds of our users, and in their tweets, too. Here are some of my favorite recent Bluebeam “shout outs”:
